Trash Barriers Installed to Reduce River Pollution in Kathmandu

The Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee, under the Ministry of Urban Development, has installed “trash barriers” to collect floating waste from the rivers in the capital.
These barriers have been installed at six locations: Gokarna, Guheshwari, the Pashupatinath Temple area, the confluence of the Manohara and Bagmati rivers, the UN Park area, and the Balkumari area. The committee believes these barriers will be effective in stopping plastic and other floating waste carried by the river and enabling regular collection. This initiative is expected to further support the Bagmati River cleanup campaign.

सहरी विकास मन्त्रालय अन्तर्गतको बागमती सभ्यता एकीकृत विकास समितिले राजधानीका नदीहरूमा तैरिने फोहोर संकलन गर्न ‘ट्रास ब्यारियर’ जडान गरेको छ।

ब्यारियर गोकर्ण, गुहेश्वरी, पशुपतिनाथ मन्दिर क्षेत्र, मनोहरा र बागमतीको दोभानमा, युएन पार्क क्षेत्रमा तथा बालकुमारी क्षेत्र
गरी ६ स्थानमा संरचना जडान गरिएको छ। नदीमा बग्दै जाने प्लास्टिक तथा अन्य तैरिने फोहोर रोक्न र नियमित संकलन गर्न यी ब्यारियर प्रभावकारी हुने विश्वास समितिको छ। यस कदमले बागमती नदी सफाइ अभियानलाई थप सहयोग पुग्ने अपेक्षा गरिएको छ।
