Patan Durbar Square to Go Vehicle-Free Twice a Week

Lalitpur Metropolitan City has launched “Patan Paila Pailai”, an initiative to make the UNESCO-listed Patan Durbar area a vehicle-free zone. In its first phase, designated vehicle-free stretches include Mamdu Galli to Gaurishankar Temple to Olkhu Ganesh Temple, Bhimsensthan Temple to Swath Narayan Temple, and Swath Chowk to Kyalkhu Chowk. As part of a trial, Patan Durbar Square will be vehicle-free every Saturday and Wednesday, generally from 1 PM to 6 PM, with extended hours on selected dates in Mangsir and Poush, allowing emergency vehicles, while promoting sustainable urban mobility and a more peaceful experience of the city’s cultural heritage. ललितपुर महानगरपालिकाले विश्व सम्पदा सूचीमा रहेको पाटन दरबार क्षेत्रलाई सवारीसाधनमुक्त (Vehicle-Free Zone) बनाउने अभियान सुरु गरेको छ। “पाटन पाइला पाइलैमा” नाम दिइएको यो कार्यक्रम पहिलो चरणमा ममदु गल्ली, गौरीशंकर मन्दिरदेखि ओल्खु गणेश मन्दिरसम्म, भीमसेनस्थान मन्दिरदेखि स्वठ नारायणमन्दिरसम्‍म र स्वठ चोकदेखि क्यालखु चोक भेहिकल फ्री जोन गरिएको छ।
