KP Sharma Oli Re-elected as CPN-UML Chair for Third Consecutive Term

KATHMANDU (Dec 19, 2025) — In a decisive move at the 11th General Convention, KP Sharma Oli has been re-elected as the Chairperson of the CPN-UML for a third consecutive term. Despite a rising “Gen Z” political movement calling for fresh leadership, Oli secured a landslide victory over his rival, Ishwar Pokhrel.

The election results also saw a major shift in the party’s inner circle, with Shankar Pokhrel elected as the new General Secretary. This win solidifies Oli’s grip on the Central Committee and office bearers, even as the party faces mounting internal dissent and ongoing constitutional disputes.
