Ashtimki is a special tradition in western Nepal, particularly in places like Banke, Bardiya, Kailali, Kanchanpur, and Surkhet, that shows the story of how life has changed over time. The Tharu people in these areas think it’s really important. They put up Ashtimki paintings on their walls when they celebrate Krishna Janmashtami, which is the birthday of Lord Krishna. The paintings are not just pretty pictures – they also show how the Tharu people see life changing and tell a story that’s been passed down in their families for a long time.
