Linge Ping, Bhaktapur

Children from Changunarayan Municipality enjoying Linge ping (Swing) on the occasion of Dashain festival, Bhaktapur, Nepal.

Linge Ping is a traditional Nepali swing set up in Dashain Festival – A major Hindu festival in Nepal. It is made by placing 4 big bamboo trees/sticks on four sides and combined at one point. Along with that, wood, straws, and strong jute rope are used to make the Ping. The wooden structure kept on the swing(locally called Kaapro) is helpful for sitting and standing swing methods. Hindus believe that one has to enjoy playing Linge Ping in Dashain and stay in the air for a while.
