Women Observing Rishi Panchami 2025, Kathmandu

On the occasion of the Rishi Panchami festival in Nepal, observed on Bhadra Shukla Panchami, large crowds of women gather at the Risheshwar Temple in Teku, Kathmandu. From early morning, they follow the tradition of brushing their teeth with 365 datiwan (herbal sticks), bathing with cow dung, soil, and ash, and performing rituals. According to religious belief, if any mistakes or impurities occur, worshipping the Saptarishis along with Arundhati on Rishi Panchami is believed to bring liberation from them. August 28, 2025
