Newa Community Celebrates Nepal Sambat, New Year at Basantapur Durbar Square

With the arrival of the Tihar festival, farmers in Seto Gumba, Nagarjun, Kathmandu, are busy plucking marigold flowers to sell in local markets. The courtyards, fields, and slopes in the area are bright with blossoms, though farmers report that this year’s marigold yield is lower than usual. They say the early arrival of Tihar and unfavorable weather have resulted in fewer blooms compared to previous years. Kathmandu, October 24, 2025.

तिहार सुरू भएसंगै काठमाडौंको नागार्जुन पर्ने सेतो गुम्वा क्षेत्रका किसानहरू फूल टिप्न व्यस्त छन्। किसानले सयपत्री फूल टिपेर बिक्री गर्न थालेका छन्। यहांका घरआँगन, डिल, बारी र कान्ला-कान्लामा फूल फुलेको छ । तर यो वर्ष भने अरू बेला जस्तो सयपत्रि नफुलेको किसानहरू बताउंछन् । “यो वर्ष तिहार पनि छिटो आयो र फूल पनि राम्रोसंग फुलेको छैन । अरू बेलै पाखै भरि फुल्ने सयपत्रि यो वर्ष निकै कम फुलेको छ ।” व्यवसायीले भने ।
