Nagdaha is a lake in Lalitpur District. According to legends, a male serpent who resided in Taudaha once went to the town of Panauti to participate in a festival where he made a union with a female serpent of Nagdaha, giving birth to the mythical half-serpent and half-human beings along with heavy rain.

Talking about biodiversity, Nagdaha is rich in aquatic wildlife, home to various species of native fish. Along with that, you can see more than 50 species of birds along with other migratory species of birds.

About Nagdaha Lake

Nagdaha is a small, sacred lake in Dhapakhel, Lalitpur, on the southern edge of the Kathmandu Valley. Its name means “serpent lake”, and local legend links it to the serpent of nearby Taudaha. Today Nagdaha is a popular spot for evening walks, boating and photography, with reflections of the surrounding hills and temples on calm days. Early morning and late afternoon offer the softest light for photographing the lake.
