Matsya Pokhari Park, Chichila Rural Municipality, Sankhuwasabha
Matsya Pokhari Park, located in Chichila Rural Municipality, Sankhuwasabha, is a significant religious site with great tourism potential. Situated at an altitude of 1,600 meters, the park features two temples—Sri Kailashpati Shivalaya and Jalpadevi—where Gurung priests perform rituals. According to 71-year-old priest Harsh Bahadur Gurung, offerings such as pigeons, flowers, and incense are made to Jalpadevi, while a female chicken or goat’s back is sacrificed as part of the tradition. An annual fair is held here during Mansir Purnima, Maghe Sankranti, and Shivratri, attracting devotees. The pond is considered sacred, and harming its fish is believed to bring misfortune. Located about 25 km from Khandbari, the park is accessible via Chichila Bazaar and can be reached by private vehicle.
