Kumari Puja Celebrated at Taleju Bhawani Temple During Indra Jatra

On the auspicious occasion of Indra Jatra, Kumari Puja was held on 5 September 2025 at the Taleju Bhawani Temple in Basantapur, Kathmandu. Unmarried Newar girls aged 2 to 8, dressed as Kumari (Living Goddess) in traditional attire and jewelry, were worshipped as divine manifestations, while devotees offered cash, fruits, clothes, and other gifts. The ritual is believed to invoke the blessings of Goddess Taleju, safeguarding young girls from illness and ensuring their good health. 6 September 2025
