Devotees Celebrate Chhath Festival 2025 at Gaurighat, Kathmandu

Thousands of devotees gathered at Gaurighat in Kathmandu to celebrate Chhath Festival, the revered festival dedicated to Sun God worship. Women in traditional attire performed rituals and offered prayers to the setting sun at riverfront ghats specially prepared for the occasion. Observed over four days, today marked the third day of the festival, known as the “Evening Arghya,” where devotees fast and present offerings including clay pots, sugarcane, green grass, fruits, and traditional delicacies at the Bagmati River. छठ पर्व मनाउँदै गौरीघाटमा भक्तजनको घुइँचो
सूर्य देवको आराधनाको महान् पर्व छठ आज देशभर श्रद्धा र भक्तिसाथ मनाइँदैछ। राजधानी काठमाडौँको गौरीघाटमा भक्तजनको घुइँचो लागेको छ। नदी किनारमा तयार पारिएका घाटहरूमा महिलाहरू परम्परागत पोशाकमा सजिएर अस्ताउँदो सूर्यलाई अर्घ्य अर्पण गर्न भेला भएका छन्।
चार दिनसम्म मनाइने यो पर्वको तेस्रो दिन आज ‘सँझको अर्घ्य’को दिन हो। व्रतालुहरूले दिनभर उपवास बस्दै साँझ बागमती नदी किनारमा माटाका ठेकी, दाउरा, हरियो घाँस, फलफूल र ठकुवा–भुसवा जस्ता परिकारसहित पूजा आराधना गर्छन्। साँझ सूर्य अस्ताउँदाको बेला जलमा उभिएर सूर्य देवलाई अर्घ्य दिइन्छ।
