Birgunj Ghantaghar

The Birgunj Ghantaghar(घण्टाघर), or Clock Tower, is a historic landmark in Nepal’s Madhesh Province, symbolizing the city’s cultural and economic significance. Built in the early 20th century, it stands at the heart of Birgunj, with its construction funded by Japanese schoolchildren from Yogano, Japan, who donated a Seiko clock-face. Blending traditional Nepali and colonial architectural styles, the tower serves as both a timekeeping device and a reminder of Birgunj’s rich heritage and growth as a major trade hub.
