Aryatara Shakya Becomes Nepal’s New Kumari

Parent of newly appointed Kumari Aryatara Shakya seems emotional. Two-year-old Aryatara Shakya has been appointed as Nepal’s new Kumari( living goddess), carrying forward a centuries-old tradition honored by both Hindus and Buddhists. She was ceremonially escorted into the Kumari Ghar in Kathmandu and enthroned as the new Kumari, while her predecessor, Trishna Shakya, was respectfully bid farewell.
