A pair of Sarus Crane in the field

The Sarus crane (Grus antigone) सारस is the tallest flying bird standing at an impressive height of up to 1.8 meters. These cranes are often found foraging on marshes and shallow wetlands. They are considered symbols of marital fidelity, believed to mate for life and even pine the loss of their mates to the point of starving to death.
