Image Pasal Quests: How Photo Contests Work and How to Enter

Image Pasal Quests are free photo contests for photographers in Nepal. Each Quest has a theme, a deadline and a prize, and the best entries are featured on the Image Pasal homepage. They are the easiest way to get your work seen by buyers, build your portfolio, and start selling your photos.

What Is a Quest?

A Quest is a themed photography challenge. Past Quests have covered Tihar, Dashain travel photography and Nepali culture. Each one runs for a few weeks and asks you to show your own view of the theme.

Every Quest page tells you:

  • The theme and ideas for what to shoot
  • The deadline, shown as a countdown
  • The reward for the winners
  • Past winning entries, so you can see what the judges liked

The Current Quest: Festive Bliss 2026

The Festive Bliss: Dashain/Tihar/Chhath Festival Photography Contest 2026 is open now. It closes on November 16, 2026 at 12:00 PM Nepal time.

Shoot the joy of Nepal’s autumn festivals: tika and jamara during Dashain, bamboo swings and kites, oil lamps and rangoli at Tihar, and riverbank rituals at Chhath. Three winners will each receive a 64 GB high-speed camera memory card, and their photos will be featured on the Image Pasal homepage.

How to Enter

  1. Create a photographer account. Fill in the short photographer registration form with your name, contact details, a portfolio link such as Instagram, and the camera you use.
  2. Open the Quest. Go to Quests and choose the active one.
  3. Upload up to five photos. Submit each photo separately, in JPG format, with a short caption.
  4. Submit before the deadline. Late entries are not accepted, so don’t leave it to the last day.

The Rules in Brief

Read the full contest rules before you enter. The main points:

  • Your own work only. Every photo must be taken by you. Copying someone else’s work means disqualification.
  • No AI images. AI-generated or AI-edited photos are not allowed.
  • Light editing only. Brightness, contrast and colour adjustments are fine. Heavy changes that alter the scene are not.
  • High resolution. Photos should be at least 300 DPI and sharp enough for print.
  • Consent. If people appear in your photo, make sure they are happy to be photographed.
  • A caption for each photo. Say what is happening and how it fits the theme.

By entering, you allow Image Pasal to use your photos to promote the Quest, with credit to you.

How Entries Are Judged

A panel of judges scores each entry on four things: creativity, composition, how well it fits the theme, and technical quality. A technically perfect photo that misses the theme won’t win. Neither will a great idea that is blurry.

Tips for a Winning Entry

  • Tell a story. A grandmother giving tika says more than a crowd scene.
  • Look for emotion. Laughter, concentration and devotion stand out to judges.
  • Shoot in good light. Early morning, late afternoon and lamp light all work well for festivals.
  • Send your best five, not five of the same. Show range: a wide scene, a portrait, a detail.
  • Write a real caption. Name the place, the moment and why it matters.

Why Join a Quest?

Winning is a bonus. Every entry puts your name in front of the Image Pasal community and buyers looking for real photos of Nepal. Once you have an account, you can also list your photos for sale, so the work you shoot for a Quest can keep earning after the contest ends.
